Franco and I have been watching lots of cooking and baking shows on TV and he has been loving it. The only downfall is that he wants to make everything he sees, and I am not the best cook.
I know how to cook and bake a handful of things but that’s as far as my creativity goes. The other night I wanted to cook something fun with Franco, but also not mess it up.
I created this yummy sweet and salty treat that was just perfect and had all the elements I wanted: Halloween themed, easy to make, easy for Franco to help, and delicious!
This recipe is great to make with kids because it requires a lot of scooping, measuring and counting. It’s easy to follow directions makes it fun and mess free with your little ones!
This Spooky Halloween Trail Mix is the perfect snack to have while watching Halloween movies or to bring to a party.
Trail Mix Ingredients:
5 cups of Toasted Rice Cereal
5 cups of Bugles
5 cups of butter waffle pretzels
1 package (11 oz.) Pumpkin Candy Corn
1 package (11.4 oz) Halloween Peanut M&Ms
1 package Betty Crocker Candy Shop Eyes
1 stick of butter
3/4 cups of brown sugar
1 tbsp McCormack Cake Batter Flavor
Trail Mix Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 300 degrees F and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a microwave safe bowl, melt butter and mix with brown sugar. Once it is combined add cake batter flavoring. Mix until smooth.
- In a large mixing bowl, mix Bugles, cereal and pretzels. Pour butter mixture and stir everything together until evenly coated.
- Spread cereal mixture evenly on the cooking sheet. Bake for a total of 20 minutes stirring the mixture halfway.
- Remove from oven and cool completely. Add candy corn pumpkins, M&Ms and sugar eyes. Stir together and keep in air tight container.
If you want to omit the butter mixture and baking, you can certainly just add all ingredients together for a dry mix. This cuts the time and calories! It is your choice because both ways are delicious.
I hope you find this recipe easy to make and enjoy it during the Halloween season! You can switch it up each holiday or add other treats such as peanuts, chocolate chips, raisons etc. Get creative with it and let me know what you think!
