This past week I had the pleasure of being a special guest at Albany Public Library’s Family Story time in the Garden. We had a ‘beach day’ with fun things in store. I got to share special activities and crafts related to the books that were read.

One of the books that we read was Mermaids Fast Asleep by Robin Riding. It is about how mythological sea creatures sleep in the sea. I shared homemade lavender scented bubbles with my new friends help relax and blow bubbles after the story.

Lavender has calming and soothing properties which may help kids relax and sleep better.

Everyone got to take home a small bottle of lavender scented bubbles and I am going to share two easy ways to make your own bottle of it!

First Way to Make Homemade Lavender Scented Bubbles

A fast and easy way to make lavender bubbles is to add drops of lavender essential oils into store bought bubble solution. Add 5-8 drops per cup of bubble solution. I always use lavender essential oils from Plant Therapy which is also kids safe.

Second Way to Make Homemade Lavender Scented Bubbles

Simple ingredients for lavender scented bubbles include

  • 1 ½ cups warm water
  • ½ cup dish soap (lavender scented or unscented works best)
  • ¼ cup corn syrup
  • 5-8 drops lavender essential oil

Directions

  1. In a bowl, pour warm water and dish soap.
  2. Add corn syrup.
  3. Add 5-8 drops of essential oil
  4. Stir well and store in an old bottle.

You can also pour the solution into small individual bottles like I did here.

I got these cute little bubble wands and glued sea shells to them. You can also make your own by shaping pipe cleaners or using small cookie cutters.

Homemade lavender scented bubbles are the perfect activity to wind down during the summer evenings and your littles are sure to love them.

I will be returning for another story time in the garden on August 22 so so hope to see some of my local friends there! We will have another fun filled time with stories and activities.
